About Rocco, Roger, Riley, Rollo ;)

This is me with four of Paul's dogs. They are just sooo cute (and hairy)! And on the picture are only four out of six ;)
Chelsea and Toffee are missing. Although Toffee technically lives more with their neighbour than at home ;)
I'm going to miss them so much <3

And I will miss Barry, Kevin and Paul (especially <3 ) even more. We've done so much together and it is to a huge part because of them that I had the amazing experience that I had :) Thank you, lads! :)

Sophie's Birthday in Dublin

Dublin ... again :D

Bonjour mes amis :)

Today I'm going to tell you about yet another weekend in Dublin. This time we all came up to celebrate Sophie's birthday together.

It all started on Friday, when I made my way up to Navan, where I visited Nadine. Some of the teachers were going to the Hill of Tara (the seat of the High King of Ireland) for coffee and we were going to join them. So after we strolled around Navan for a bit, we walked to her school. Waiting for the others to leave, we went to the music room and practiced a few German pop songs. Then we drove to Tara Hill. The food in the restaurant we went to was delicious! The art teacher, who had absolutely amazing paintings in her car, brought us up to the top of the hill and we wandered around for a bit. It's an amazing view up there and I can imagine how the High Kings of Ireland must have felt back in the days. At the same time it's very quiet and to be honest, it is not as impressive as we expected. In the evening, we had a quiet girl's night in, put on make up, took pictures and watched Irish reality shows.

The next morning, we had a nice German breakfast and around noon we met Lena and Isabel in Dublin. After deciding back and forth, we went to Bray, which is a nice town south of Dublin right by the sea. Unfortunately, it was really really windy walking down the promenade and on the way back we got soaking wet because it had to start raining. Luckily, we had spare clothes and could change. In the evening, we met Sophie and other friends of hers for her birthday dinner. We went to a delicious Vietnamese restaurant and had homemade cute Minion cupcakes for dessert :)
We went out that night to the oldest bar in Dublin, where Sophie received all her presents at midnight. Afterwards, we went to a cool bar that was like a pub and disco at the same time. We had a lot of fun dancing and went home eventually with tired feet and happy thoughts :)

The next morning, we met up with Paul's sister for breakfast and strolled around for a bit. Then, it was time for me to head home since public transport to Cahersiveen isn't really great :D

That's it for today, the next post will be all about the February midterm break with lots and lots of new stories :)

Take care and thanks for reading!

Killarney

Good morning everyone :)

Today I am going to tell you about the first weekend of February (yes, we are finally getting closer to May...).

A lot of things were planned for that weekend and I must say everything just worked out perfectly! Writing about it three months later is funny but it was very nice looking through the pictures again and somehow it feels like yesterday. Time is going by so quickly...too quickly. I'm having such a good time and I'm trying to see and experience as much as I can. School will be finished by the end of the month which already makes me sad but there's nothing I can do about it but enjoy and take in as much as I can. But enough now with the melancholy. Back to the weekend in Killarney.

Briefly, this is what happened:

Friday
Going to the orthodontist (my wire kept popping out...)
Meet Nadine
Go to Future Sounds (Music Festival)

Saturday
National Park with Nadine

Sunday
See the boys' rugby match

Some of the pictures were taken by Nadine, so thanks for letting me post them!! :)

Friday

So, after I got sorted at the orthodontist I met up with Nadine and we strolled around Killarney for a bit, where we even bumped into Siobhán :D

Later in the evening, I went down to the Gleneagle Apartments, and from there our "gang" went to the festival literally next door. It was a great evening! Although it was not very busy, we were dancing and singing and I got to know the band "All Tvvins" among others. "Le Galaxie" were supposed to play too but they didn't show up. The best part of that evening was the silent disco. Yes, you've read right. I haven't been to one before so it was really really cool. You get headphones with two channels that play music. You can switch between them as much as you like and so it happened that half of us were dancing to Irish folk music and the other half to "Cheap Thrills" at one point. Extremely funny! And of course the South Kerry gang kept the party going, dancing on the stage etc. After the last DJ was finished, we made our way to the apartment, had a few drinks and went to bed. The next morning though, we were thrown out of bed by the staff at ten in the morning .... too early :D

Saturday

After we've had breakfast in the hotel I met up with Nadine again and we wanted to go to the National Park. Being my father's daughter, I left my walking boots in Paul's car but he wasn't too far yet and so got them back :)
And then it started raining ... We were hoping it would get better soon and took a taxi to the Muckross House but it only got worse. Hence, we decided to join a tour through the house, which we were very impressed by. It even made us watch two episodes of Downton Abby that same night. Getting back outside, the weather still hadn't changed so we got a cup of coffee and finally it cleared up so we started our hike. And from there on we had the most amazing weather. We stopped at a lake for lunch, saw the Torc waterfall and almost didn't get out of the "park" before it was dark. We had to stop every two minutes on the way back to take pictures :D
In the evening, we went out for a drink and watched Downton Abby. Very nice and quiet :)

Beautiful gardens
A rainbow! A promise!

Sunday

Sunday morning, Nadine and I had a very rebellious idea and went to mass in the church in Killarney. It was very boring :( People aren't even singing there... But at least I can say I went to mass here in Ireland ;)

After mass, the boys picked me up and we went to a rugby match. While I was watching this, I was talking to four friends, arranging their visit in April :)

The day finished with dinner in The Mills (one of our favorite pubs/restaurants on the way home from Cork).
Go Eagles!!!!

All in all, it was a great weekend with lots of craic :P

St. Brigid's Day

The first of February marks the beginning of spring.
Also, it is St. Brigid's Day. There are many different legends about her but it is said that she was very generous and that she established many convents. In Irish tradition, people make St. Brigid crosses on the 31st of January, which are supposed to bring good luck to the owners of the house and keep bad spirits out.

I was very happy that I got to make some myself on a nice evening in front of the fire :)

Paul's and my selection of crosses ;)
